Why the UAE Is a Major Fertility Country
The UAE has built one of the Middle East's most advanced fertility sectors, with internationally recognised clinics in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. That brings a steady need for reproductive material to cross borders: patients relocating to or from the Emirates, couples whose embryos were created in one country and will be used in another, and clinics moving samples between sites.
Moving frozen embryos, sperm or eggs is not like moving any other parcel. The material has to stay at a stable ultra-low temperature, avoid radiation exposure at security screening, and arrive with documentation that satisfies both the sending and the receiving clinic. That is the work CML does on every shipment.

What the UAE Rules Mean for Your Shipment
UAE assisted reproduction is governed by Federal Law No. 7 of 2019 on Medically Assisted Reproduction, substantially amended by Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2023, with each emirate's health authority (Dubai Health Authority, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, and others) applying its own licensing and procedures.
A few points matter for anyone planning a transfer:
Movement across borders is regulated, not simply allowed or banned. The framework has changed in recent years, and commentary online is not consistent, with older guides still describing restrictions that have since been relaxed. The practical position is that transfers are handled under the controls and approvals set by the licensed clinic and its health authority.
Donor material and surrogacy are still restricted. UAE rules continue to limit donor eggs, donor sperm and donor embryos, and surrogacy is not available. If your plan involves either, confirm the position with your clinic before anything is shipped.
Clinics set their own acceptance requirements. The receiving clinic will normally need to confirm in writing that it will accept your material, and the sending clinic will need to release it.
Rules change. We confirm current requirements with both clinics before every shipment moves.
How CML Transports Your Samples
Enquiry. Tell us where your embryos, sperm or eggs are stored, where they are going, and your preferred timing.
Clinic coordination. We liaise directly with the sending and receiving clinics to confirm paperwork, release and acceptance.
Documentation. Consent, ownership and chain-of-custody records are prepared and checked before collection.
Collection in a dry shipper. Your material is packed in a validated −196°C dry shipper, which holds temperature for days beyond the expected journey time.
Hand-carry. A trained CML courier carries the shipper personally the entire way. It never travels as unaccompanied freight.
Do Not X-Ray. At every checkpoint the courier requests manual inspection instead of X-ray screening, because cryopreserved cells can be vulnerable to radiation.
Delivery and handover. The shipper is delivered directly to the receiving clinic, with the chain-of-custody record completed on handover.
Who We Move Samples For
Patients relocating to or from the UAE who need their frozen embryos, sperm or eggs to move with them
Couples treating across two countries, for example creating embryos in one country and transferring in another
Clinics that need a reliable specialist courier for inter-clinic transfers
Fertility preservation patients moving stored sperm or eggs to a new storage location
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you ship frozen embryos, sperm and eggs to and from the UAE?
Yes. CML ships all three to and from fertility clinics in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and elsewhere in the UAE, subject to the requirements of your sending and receiving clinics and the relevant health authority. We confirm these before booking.
Which UAE clinics do you work with?
We ship to and from clinics including Fakih IVF, First IVF, Orchid IVF, Bourn Hall, Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital and ART Fertility Clinic in Dubai; ART Fertility, Healthplus, First IVF, Fakih IVF and UMNIYA Fertility & Women's Health in Abu Dhabi; and The Sharjah Fertility Center at University Hospital in Sharjah. We also ship to and from other licensed UAE clinics.
Is it safe to fly frozen embryos, sperm or eggs?
Yes, when it is done properly. Samples travel in a −196°C dry shipper that holds temperature for several days beyond the expected journey, and a trained courier stays with it from collection to delivery. Our Do Not X-Ray protocol protects the material at security.
Will my samples be X-rayed?
No. Our couriers request manual inspection at every checkpoint.
Do I need to be in the UAE for the shipment to go ahead?
Not necessarily. Many shipments are arranged remotely between clinics. What matters is that the sending clinic releases your material and the receiving clinic confirms it will accept it. We coordinate both.
Can I ship donor eggs, donor sperm or donor embryos?
This is one of the areas where UAE rules remain restrictive. Confirm your situation with your clinic first. We will confirm the requirements for your specific route before booking.
What documents are needed?
Usually: consent and ownership documentation from the sending clinic, a written acceptance from the receiving clinic, chain-of-custody and shipper records, any screening documentation your clinic requires, and photo identification. The exact list depends on the route and the clinics involved.
How is the fee calculated?
Your fee depends on the route, the type and quantity of material, the timing and the level of insurance. Contact us and we will confirm the total for your shipment before anything is booked.
Do you only ship within the UAE?
No. We ship between the UAE and our wider network of 80+ countries, as well as between clinics within the UAE.
